Blue Grass Police Chief on administrative leave

BLUE GRASS, Iowa (KWQC) - The Blue Grass City Council placed the city’s chief of police on paid administrative leave in early September.

According to the minutes from the special city council meeting on Sept. 8, Chief Bobby Flaherty was placed on leave following a closed session. Those minutes were approved at the regular city council meeting on Monday.

City Clerk Ann Schmidt said it is an ongoing situation, and the city can’t provide any further comment.

City officials said three part-time officers are doing their best to cover the city while having other full-time jobs. The Scott County Sheriff’s Department is also assisting the city. If you need to reach the Police Department, please call “911″ to report your issue.

Flaherty was sworn in on April 18. On Sept. 20, the Blue Grass police webpage didn’t list him as the chief. However, the next day the website had Flaherty listed once again.

“We are anxious to get our Police Chief back so he can continue to serve and protect Blue Grass,” the mayor and City Council members said in a Facebook post.

The Mayor and City Council said they are doing their best to protect the city.
