Second driver arrested after hit and run in Bettendorf

BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC) - UPDATE 12/3/19: Police have made a second arrest in connection with a hit and run that happened in 2018 in Bettendorf on State Street.

UPDATE 1-10-19: The Bettendorf Police Department says information from the public was instrumental in identifying the correct vehicle.

No further information will be released at this time. The investigation continues with the assistance of the Scott County Sheriff’s Department.

UPDATE 12/27/2018 4:30pm: Bettendorf Police have released an update in relation to the two-vehicle crash the required drivers of both vehicles to be airlifted from the scene to the University of Iowa Hospital due to the seriousness of their injuries.

Police have determined that a third vehicle was involved in the incident and failed to remain at the scene.

The Bettendorf Police Department is seeking the public's help in locating the third vehicle and its driver.

Police believe the vehicle is a 1997-2003 Black Pontiac Grand Prix, four-door, dark in color. Officials say the vehicle may have damage to the driver's side from the accident.

According to police, the vehicle was last seen continuing on State Street / US 67 toward LeClaire at a high rate of speed.

UPDATE 12/19 2:57 p.m.: Bettendorf police tell TV6 the road has now reopened and traffic resumes as normal on State Street. There were two people airlifted from the scene with serious injuries.

ORIGINAL 12/19: Bettendorf police are responding to a multi-vehicle accident near the 6100 block of State Street.

Officials tell TV6 that State Street is closed from Fennel Street to the 6000 Block of State Street. They have asked people to take an alternate route.
