Some residents in west Davenport are still wondering what the noise was early Sunday morning, October 29, 2017. KWQC has received many requests asking if we had any information.

"What was that boom?"

One viewer said they heard it on Denison by the fairgrounds. They said it sounded like a bomb.

A KWQC producer also reported being woken up by the 'boom' around 1:15 a.m. She lives in the area of Genesis West Hospital, but couldn't tell where the sound came from.

We contacted Davenport Police. They told us they did receive calls around 1:14 a.m. reporting a loud explosion. They say the calls came from the area of 1400 W 12th Street.

Police and Fire crews checked the area but couldn't come up with a source for the noise. According to police, they were looking at a possible transformer in the area of Marquette and Central Park, but that has not been confirmed.

We reached out to MidAmerican Energy to see if they have any information to share. They told us there were no reports of any issues within a two hour frame around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday morning. Their spokesperson could not help to identify the noise.
