Branstad says first vote on China ambassador nomination expected this week
DES MOINES, Iowa (KWQC) - Some progress to report on Iowa Governor Terry Branstad's nomination to become U.S. Ambassador to China.
During a news conference, Monday, May 8, 2017, the governor announced that his confirmation will come up for a vote in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday. Branstad says if all goes as planned, it will likely got to the full Senate for a vote by next week.
Branstad also said he has a number of bill sent to him by the Iowa Legislature that he still needs to consider. He will try to review them by the end of this week.
President Donald Trump nominated Branstad in December.
