Buffalo Police Chief, Davenport officers among those awarded Purple Heart by Iowa State Police Association

(KWQC) - The Iowa State Police Association has awarded Buffalo, Iowa's Police Chief with it's Purple Heart Award.

TJ Behning was seriously hurt in late 2017 after being struck by a car in an attempt to stop a high-speed pursuit. Behning suffered extensive damage to his legs in the pursuit

Behning was one of several people honored by the Police Association.

In a Facebook post, the Davenport Police Association said Officer Brenda Waline and Officer Justin King were also presented with the Purple Heart Award.

According to its website, The Iowa Police Association says it developed the Purple Heart award in 2013 to honor members of law enforcement critical hurt or killed in the line of duty "as a result of a combat incident."
