(NBC) - One person is dead and more than a hundred more sickened in a salmonella outbreak linked to raw turkey.
It's concerning news in the weeks before the biggest day of the year for turkey consumption.
The Centers for Disease Control says the strain of salmonella has been found in a variety of turkey products, including ground turkey and turkey patties.
Cooking the meat thoroughly will destroy bacteria. Most people infected with salmonella develop diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps, according to the CDC.
