COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (KWQC) - A 68-year-old man from Council Bluffs has been arrested in connection with Sex Trafficking of a Minor.

Officials say 68-year-old Richard John Massey, of Council Bluffs, was arrested by the FBI on charges of sex trafficking of a minor, coercion and enticement of a minor and traveling in interstate commerce to facilitate prostitution.

Officials say the arrest came after an indictment on these charges returned by a federal grand jury sitting on October 30. Officials say the offenses happened between October 2017 and April 26, 2018.

Massey was arrested at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport as he was entering the U.S. from Mexico, according to officials. Massey was ordered to appear in court on a subsequent date. Officials say he will remain in custody pending proceedings in the Southern District of Iowa.

The public is reminded that an indictment is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless he is proven guilty.

This matter is being investigated by the FBI, the Council Bluffs Police Department and the Omaha Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
