UPDATE: Officials confirm the body pulled from the Mississippi River was missing 23-year-old

ANDALUSIA, Ill. (KWQC) - UPDATE 9/16 3:30 p.m.: East Moline police have released more information on the case. They say Jeremy Swiatek was working at the Rock Island County Landfill for a Weaver Consultants Group based in Naperville, Ill. He was reported missing after he failed to show up for work on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019.

Police say surveillance video shows Swiatek leaving a tavern in the District of Rock Island early Friday. He was seen leaving alone in the direction of Schwiebert Park, which is along the Mississippi River.

Foul play is not suspected, but police are still investigating.

UPDATE 9/16: The Rock Island County coroner says the body that was pulled from the Mississippi River has been identified as 23-year-old Jeremy Swiatek.

Swiatek was reported missing after being last seen on the evening of September 12, 2019. Police say he was last seen in the District of Rock Island leaving a tavern. His family tells TV6 he was last seen at Billy Bob's in Rock Island.

Swiatek's body was found near Kelly's Landing in Andalusia near the Andalusia Harbor. Crews were able to recover his body around 3:30 on Sunday after people called it in.

The family confirmed to TV6 the body recovered was that of Swiatek's. The family said they spent their weekend handing out fliers and said Swiatek was in the Quad Cities for work.

UPDATE: The Rock Island County coroner confirms to TV6 a body pulled from the Mississippi River Sunday is the body of a missing 23-year-old man last seen in Rock Island.

Brian Gustafson confirmed the news Sunday evening, but would not confirm the name of the man, only saying he was reported missing over the weekend.

On Saturday, the East Moline Police Department said it was looking for 23-year-old Jeremy Swiatek. TV6 has reached out to the East Moline Police Department asking for confirmation of the Swiatek investigation.

Family of Swiatek spent the weekend passing out flyers and searching for him. Swiatek's cousin told TV6 he visited the Quad Cities often for work. According to the cousin, housekeepers at the hotel Swiatek was staying noticed his hotel room was not being stayed in and reported him missing.

Police have not said how the man died or ended up in the Mississippi River.

ORIGINAL: The Rock Island County coroner confirms the body of an adult male was pulled from the Mississippi River Sunday afternoon.

Crews were called to the river near Kelly’s Landing in Andalusia. The body was pulled from the river around 3:30.

The identity of the body has not been released and it is unclear how the body ended in the river.
