DAVENPORT, Ia (KWQC) - A Davenport man is accused of beating a dog and cutting its throat Friday.

Police say around 7 a.m. Friday morning, officers were called to the 3300 block of Heatherton Drive. When they got there they found the dog in the hallway bleeding with a cut to its head.

Witnesses told police they heard 34-year-old Colin Glubczynski yelling at the dog early in the morning. A witness then heard the dog yelping as if it was being beaten.

The dog was found lying in the hallway in front of the Glubczynski's door. Police say the dog's throat was cut twice and hit in the head with a sharp or heavy object that made a hole in the dog's head.

Glubczynski was told that he was under arrest and tried to go back into his apartment. The officer grabbed his arm and then he tried to pull away. Eventually, the man was arrested. Glubczynsk is charged with animal torture and interference with official acts.

The dog is now being cared for and receiving medical care.
