DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - In a new Vision 2020 document released by the Davenport Community School District, the school board is considering closing Monroe Elementary and moving students to Smart Intermediate.

This may be due to an enrollment drop of 2,298 students. For the 2017-2018 school year, enrollment is around 15,500, compared to around 18,250 in the early 1990's.

They are also considering having elementary schools remain in current neighborhoods, and serve students PreK-6, or K-6.
