ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) – Two Davenport teens were charged in Rock Island today after a chase in a stolen vehicle across the Rock Island Arsenal Government Bridge.

Rock Island Arsenal Police was told a stolen vehicle was crossing the bridge from Davenport around 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. Arsenal Police attempted to pull the truck over on Fort Armstrong Avenue but the driver fled across the viaduct toward the City of Rock Island.

The driver turned eastbound onto Illinois 92 where police say the truck flipped over near the median on the road.

Police say two 14-year-olds got out of the car and ran towards the Quad City Botanical Center. Arsenal police followed the boys and arrested them near the townhomes across from the Botanical Center’s children’s garden. Arsenal Police say the teens were handed over to Rock Island Police.

Rock Island Police say one teen was detained and the other was released into the custody of his parents. Both boys are from Davenport. They are charged with unlawful possession of a vehicle know to be stolen.
