UPDATE: Death of woman in Iowa City now being investigated as a homicide

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - UPDATE: The Johnson County Medical Examiner's office determined the death of 65-year-old Joellen Browning was due to multiple sharp force injuries.

Investigators have finished processing the crime scene on Green Mountain Drive in Iowa City. They will now review tips and information received from community members.

ORIGINAL: Police in Iowa City are investigating what they are calling the suspicious death of a woman.

Police say emergency responders were called to an Iowa City house Friday morning for a report of an unresponsive person. Arriving first responders found a woman dead inside.

Police say the death is being treated as suspicious death and is under investigation by local police, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations, the Johnson County Attorney's Office and the Johnson County Medical Examiner's Office. The name woman has not been released.

No arrests have been announced, and police are asking anyone with information to contact police.
