Fall leaf pickup dates for the Quad Cities Area

QUAD CITIES (KWQC) - Yard waste collection is beginning around the Quad Cities Area.

If you do not see your city please let us know and we can look into when the city will hold its yard waste collection.

The garbage company will pick up yard waste on Wednesdays if it is in paper yard waste bags and has a yard waste sticker on each bag.

During the month of November
Yard waste collection is available from April through November and will occur on the same day as your regular trash collection. In order to be collected, yard waste must be set out by 7:00 a.m., in either a biodegradable paper bag or must have a brush tie. During the months of April and November, yard waste stickers are not required for collection.

Your garbage can must be placed at the curb by 7 AM on collection day, with the lid opening facing the street. Make sure there is nothing within three (3) feet of either side of the can (like mailboxes, recycling can, or other items).

Oct. 15 - Dec. 14
Stickers are not required from October 15 through December 14. Yard waste carts can be requested and will be provided by the city upon payment of a prepaid feed of $79.96; an annual administrative fee of $100 will be charged to cover disposal of contents and will be added to utility bill. Yard wastes will be collected on the same day as regular garbage collection day.

The city of Rock Island provides free leaf collection for its residential refuse customers during the spring and fall. The city offers free leaf bags that became available on October 1. Leaf bag collection will be Monday, Oct. 8 through Friday, Dec. 7.

Oct. 15 - Nov. 30
The city offers nine weeks every year when residents do not need to put yard waste stickers on their paper yard waste bags. The last sticker week will be from October 15 through November 30. Residents may also take their yard waste to the Davenport Compost Facility, located at 2707 Railroad Avenue in Davenport.

No Sticker Yard Waste Weeks begins Monday, October 22nd and will last through Saturday, November 30th. Yard waste must still be placed for collection at your pickup point on your normal date in a Kraft ply bag. Residents may also dispose of yard wastes for free at the Compost Facility during No Sticker Yard Waste Weeks.
Tree trimmings, branches and logs need to be bundled in twine and weigh no more than 50lbs or be longer than 5ft.

Free curbside yard waste collection begins October 15 and continues through November 29. Yard waste must be placed in appropriate yard waste bags. Cubrside collection is on Mondays, yard waste disposal is also available at the city shop on Wednesdays and Saturday until December 1.

The 2018 Fall Leaf Pickup schedule has been released with the first pass of leaf collection sheduled to start Monday, Oct. 15 for Zone 1. There are eight sonzes that the leaf trucks will work on consecutive weekdays. The second pass begins on Oct. 26 with leaf collection concluding with the final pass on Nov. 29.
