Update: Identity released of the woman killed by vehicle in Savanna

SAVANNA, Ill. (KWQC) — THIS JUST IN: Savanna Police released the name of the woman who was killed Thursday night. Police say 78 year old Judy Kness of Chadwick, Illinois died after being struck by a car.

UPDATE: Police in Savanna, Illinois responded just after 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 13 to the car versus pedestrian accident.

Crews on scene worked to pull the female victim from under the vehicle. The Carroll County Coroner pronounced the 78-year old woman dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld pending family notification.

Police say preliminary investigation shows the driver of the vehicle, 65-year-old Darrel Sweeney of Savanna, Illinois is being charged with Aggravated DUI and is being held at the Carroll County Jail. The accident remains under investigation.

The incident occurred on Main Street near Manny's Pizza.

Mayor Chris Lain confirms the incident occurred after the homecoming parade.
