First Alert Day extended through 6 p.m. Saturday

A FIRST ALERT DAY WILL BE IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING UNTIL 6 PM SATURDAY, FOR ICY WIND CHILL VALUES.

Cold arctic air and brisk northwest winds will produce frigid temperatures in the teens, and icy wind chill values falling into the single digits late tonight into Saturday morning. The colder temperatures could cause refreezing to occur on area roads and sidewalks that saw some snow melt during the day. Be aware of slippery spots, especially on elevated surfaces. Temperatures and wind chill readings will remain unseasonably cold through Saturday morning and into the afternoon hours. Be sure to dress appropriately for the resulting conditions.

FIRST ALERT DAYS are issued to inform you of inconvenient, hazardous, or potentially dangerous weather in our viewing area--weather that could impact you and your family. Look for frequent updates on air, online, on our social media platforms and on the QC Weather App.
