Illinois first grade teacher accused of sexually abusing two students

GENEVA, Ill. (AP) - A suburban Chicago bilingual teacher is charged with sexually abusing two of his 8-year-old students.

Luis R. Mora of Aurora is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegedly abusing the victims between August 2018 and May 2019.

East Aurora School District 131 officials said Wednesday they immediately contacted the Department of Children and Family Services on April 24 after learning of the alleged behavior. DCFS turned over the matter to local authorities.

Kane County Associate Judge Keith Johnson on Tuesday set bail for the 58-year-old Mora at $75,000.

The Kane County sheriff's office says if Mora posts bond, he will be banned from having contact with the victims, cannot have unsupervised contact with anyone younger than 14, and surrender his passport.

It wasn't immediately known of Mora has legal representation. The state's attorney's office says June 19 is his next scheduled court date.
