Iowa State gives all clear after alert of man with knife

AMES, Iowa (KWQC) – UPDATE: Iowa State announced around 7:00 p.m. Friday that the suspect had been located and any potential danger was over.

ORIGINAL STORY: Iowa State University issued an alert Friday evening warning of a man with a knife.

"A college aged white male w/brown hair & a camo backpack armed with a knife has been reported headed toward Hilton after vandalizing a car in lot 63 near Maple-Willow-Larch Halls,” ISU tweeted at around 6:15 p.m.

“Avoid the area. Everyone on campus should stay inside and seek a safe location."

University officials released an updated alert at 6:35 p.m. advising “suspect reported headed toward Lot S7 at Jack Trice Stadium. Avoid the area. Officers continue to search for the suspect."
