It was a cold morning for the 2017 Veterans Parade

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC)— Despite the chilly morning, the people in the Quad Cities honored our veterans at the annual Veterans Day parade.

The parade took place on the streets of Davenport. It featured a color guard and uniformed veterans representing several conflicts.

Families attended the parade and ceremony with veterans in their lives to say thank you.

Junior ROTC Jaydan Gottsche was apart of the parade. Gottsche said she joined the Junior ROTC following her grandfather's footsteps who is a United States Army Veteran.

"It was very cold but it was interesting seeing all the other veterans and people standing around and supporting people like my grampa," said Gottsche.

Gottsche is a freshman in high school, she said after graduating she plans to go to college and then join the military service.

Due to the cold weather, the high school bands scheduled to march were unable to attend.
