Officials with the Lee County Sheriff's Department in Illinois posted to their Facebook Monday announcing they had been scammed.

Officials say they were scammed by an agency called "Five Fish". According to the Facebook post, the caller said they were promoting business magnets and told the department they would be free of charge for them to distribute throughout the community.

The post reads on saying "after several conversations with the company, they told us that there was no charge and no hidden fees." However, officials say "Five Fish" began calling businesses around the area asking them to donate money for the magnet program to support the sheriff's department.

The Lee County Sheriff's Department wants to alert residents this is not what they understood or wanted and wanted to make the community area of the scam.
