Missing man from Louisa County found dead in Iowa River

The Louisa County Sheriff's Office confirms the body of 66-year-old David Anthony RIce has been found. He was reported missing on December 15 after he was last seen Wednesday, December 11 by a neighbor.

Rice was last seen by his family at his cabin near Wapello on December 8 before a neighbor reported seeing him on December 11.

Rice's family had told the Louisa County Sheriff's Office that Rice had a stroke last year and that he did not drive or get around well.

On December 27, just before 11:30 a.m, the Louisa County Sheriff's Office was notified of a body that was found in the Iowa River, approximately one-quarter mile downriver from Rice's residence.

The Oakville and Wapello Fire Department's responded at the request of the sheriff's office and assisted int he recovery. They identified the body as Rice's.

An autopsy is scheduled for sometime in January. Sheriff's office officials say foul play is not expected.
