Moon Shadows Visible By Telescope on Jupiter Tonight

By  |

Every so often little round, black shadows cast by Jupiter's four Galilean moons are visible by telescope as they cross (or transit) the planet's disk. Tonight, October 11, between 6:15 and 8:45 PM we will see the shadow cast by Ganymede cross Jupiter's disk. We are lucky in the QC because only areas located west of the Great Lakes will see the entire transit.
