According to the police, a 65-year-old man was crossing mid-block on the crosswalk on River Drive. Police say a driver in a pickup truck was heading westbound in the 1200 block of River Drive when the pedestrian was hit int he northernmost lane of River Drive.

The Rock Island County Coroner tells TV6 the man has been identified as 65-year-old Richard Stout, of Moline. The coroner says the preliminary cause of death was multiple traumatic injuries.

Officials believe the pedestrian's dark-colored clothing and visibility may have played a part in the accident.

The original version of this story named the victim Richard Trout. The coroner corrected himself and confirmed the last name is Stout.
