One year later: Buffalo Police reflect on police pursuit that injured Chief T.J. Behning

BUFFALO, Iowa (KWQC) - Buffalo, Iowa Police Chief T.J. Behning continues his recovery a year after he was injured in a police pursuit through Scott County.

On September 25, 2017, officers were chasing a stolen dump truck driven by Logan Shoemaker. Chief Behning was seriously hurt after Shoemaker drove the truck into a squad car which then hit Behning. The chief spent months in the hospital recovering and has undergone numerous surgeries following the crash. Shoemaker was sentenced to 58 years in prison last month.

Chief Behning continues to make progress in his long road to recovery. On the one year anniversary of the incident, the Buffalo Police Department shared an update on his recovery on facebook. The post also thanked him for his service.
