Police in Princeton, Illinois urge residents to avoid neighborhood due to "active incident"

PRINCETON, Ill. (KWQC) - Police in Princeton are working on an active incident according to a Facebook post.

Viewers reached out to TV6 saying multiple police were on scene at a home near Main and Hudson in Princeton. This began sometime before 7:30 a.m.

As of about 12 p.m., officials were still urging residents to stay away and said anyone will be ticketed if they are caught driving through blocked intersections.

Another TV6 viewer reached out saying there was a Secretary of State vehicle that had arrived at the scene.

TV6 reached out to the Secretary of State Police and we were told they were called by the Illinois State Police for their bomb squad. Secretary of State officials said their team is on standby and that Illinois State Police was heading the investigation.
