Illinois State Police asking for help identifying man who was found dead at Atkinson landfill

ATKINSON, Ill. (KWQC) - Officials with the Illinois State Police are asking for help from the community in identifying a man who was found dead in Atkinson.

Law enforcement is investigating after they were called to a landfill in Atkinson in reference to a dead person. Officials with the Atkinson Police Department say they were called to Ecology Solutions on Wednesday just before 9 a.m. (MGN Image)

Police say the Henry-Mercer Investigative Task Force is actively conducting a death investigation after a man was found dead at a landfill in Atkinson. This happened just before 9 a.m. on Wednesday when they were called to Ecology Solutions landfill after the body was found.

The Ecology Solutions landfill is located in Atkinson, IL, and provides services to surrounding communities including services to the Chicagoland area.

The Illinois State Police is now requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the man.

Officials with the Illinois State Police are requesting help from the public in identifying the man who is only being described as a white man who "appears to have a bald head."

Police say there are limited identifiers currently available.

More information is expected to be released once an autopsy has been done. That is scheduled for May 21.
