HILLSBORO, Iowa (KWQC) — The U.S. Postal Service has made the decision to emergency suspend the Hillsboro Post Office immediately due to safety concerns.

The Hillsboro office is a leased facility and the landlord reportedly has decided against completing necessary repairs.

The press release provided by the Northland-Hawkeye Districts of the USPS didn't say what the necessary repairs were.

Retail services have been moved to the Bonaparte Post Office located at 626 First Street in Bonaparte, Iowa.

The Bonaparte Post Office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Hillsboro customers may also retrieve notice-left items during those times with photo ID.

Temporary Cluster Box Units (CBUs) for Post Office Box delivery have been installed in front of the Hillsboro Library located at 100 W Commercial Street. Post Office Box customers may pick up their keys for their new box at the Bonaparte Post Office.
