CAMBRIDGE, Ill. (KWQC) - UPDATE 6/17: Officials have identified a woman who died following a vehicle crash along I-81 on Thursday, June 13.
Officials say a cement truck, driven by 36-year-old James Houlihan, of Sheffield, Illinois, was heading westbound on Il Rte. 81, .25 miles east of East 1000 Street. An SUV, driven by 48-year-old Gretchen Decker, of Little York, Illinois, was heading eastbound at the same location.
Officials say the two collided for unknown reasons.
Houlihan was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Decker's died as a result of the crash.
UPDATE 6/13 6:49 p.m. All lanes of Rt. 81 are back open as of 6:30 p.m. Thursday after a deadly crash.
Illinois State Police say the scene has been cleared. The names of the drivers are being withheld at this time.
ORIGINAL: Officials with the Illinois State Police say they are investigating a deadly crash near Cambridge.
Around 12:30 Thursday afternoon, troopers responded to Rt. 81, approximately one mile west of Cambridge.
The crash involved a cement truck and an SUV. ISP says the westbound cement truck and eastbound SUV collided for unknown reasons. The driver of the cement truck was taken to the hospital with injuries but is expected to recover. The driver of the SUV died.
The roadway is closed in both directions for the investigation.
