UPDATE: Ice jam on the Green River clears river channel in Henry County, Illinois

HENRY Co., Ill. (KWQC) - UPDATE 2/7 11:06 a.m.: Officials say at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, the break-up ice jam on the Green River cleared the river channel.

As a result, the flood waters have begun to recede from the Green River and Hennepin Canal.

"A large breach on the Green River levee system and the Hennepin Canal have been located and documents by the OEM," the announcement reads.

Officials say a flood warning remains in effect until Sunday, Feb. 10.

ORIGINAL: Officials in Henry County, Illinois say they have received information that there is flood waters over Green River Road in the Colona area.

The Green River Road is being closed from the Hennepin Canal to Cleveland Road. Officials say this is due to an ice jam, significant rainfall and levee breach in the area.

The Office of Emergency Management will be on site Wednesday morning to investigate the situation.

Officials say to avoid the area and report any impacts to the Henry County Office of Emergency Management.
