SCOTT CO., Iowa (KWQC) - The Scott County Sheriff's Office is warning of a telephone scam.

They posted to Facebook about receiving several calls about a telephone scam on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

Residents are told they have missed a court date with the Federal Grand Jury, and they are asked for money to pay fines for failing to appear.

The calls are coming from the telephone number (563) 362-0903, and the caller says you have reached the Sheriff's Office warrant division.

The Sheriff's Office says this is a scam. They warn not to give any credit card information or wire money. They go on to say, never give your credit card number over the telephone to someone with whom you did not initiate the call.
