Student walks out of Davenport School with handgun in his possession

Davenport Police say the juvenile has been identified as a 17-year-old male and has been charged with: Felon in possession of a firearm and carrying weapons on school grounds.

Officials say the juvenile was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon and has been booked into Scott County Jail.


Davenport Police say they were called to Davenport West High School Tuesday morning after a student was seen leaving school grounds with a handgun in his possession.

According to officials, no threats were made by the student, and he left school grounds in a vehicle prior to police arrival.

Officials say the student has been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.

Officials with Davenport schools say no threats were made by the student, however, it was reported that the student displayed the gun to a security guard.
