(KWQC) - UPDATE 11/12: Officials with the Bettendorf Police Department say approximately 20 cars were involved in Friday's accident on the I74 Bridge.
Officials say there were approximately four separate accident scenes on I74 eastbound between the last Iowa exit and the State Street on-ramp.
Police Chief Keith Kimball says they were all due to the "very slick icy conditions ... and drivers driving too fast for conditions."
Of the 20 cars involved in the accident between the last Iowa Exit and the Grant Street on-ramp, nine of those had to be towed away.
Another car was towed away from a separate accident involving three cars at the top of the State Street on-ramp.
Chief Kimball says there were two separate car accidents also on Friday involving one hitting the guardrail and the other at the top of the Grant Street on-ramp.
One person was hospitalized with unknown injuries.
Chief Kimball says the crashes happened before 7 a.m. and the interstate was closed for about an hour.
UPDATE 8:40 a.m.: Traffic is back to normal after an early morning crash involving multiple vehicles.
UPDATE 7:29 a.m.: The Iowa DOT is now showing a detour is in place to avoid the accident.
Commuters are being detoured off of I74 onto 13th Street to take River Drive to the Centennial Bridge.
UPDATE 7:22 a.m.: The traffic is now backed up past Middle Road exit.
UPDATE 7:11 a.m.: The Ioaw DOT is now reporting an 8-minute delay.
UPDATE 7:05 a.m.: The Iowa DOT is projecting a 4-minute delay heading eastbound on the I74 bridge.
The crash is between Exit 3: Middle Road and Locust Street and Exit 4: US 67; Grant Street and State Street (Bettendorf).
