Freshman Tyrese Haliburton sets assist record in Cyclones win over Southern

AMES, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa State got back in the win column beating Southern 101-65 on Sunday.

The Cyclones shot more than 70 percent from the field, but the story of the night was freshman Tyrese Haliburton, who set a new school-record with 17 assists. The previous record was set by Eric Heft, who had 16 in a game versus Nebraska in 1974.

Iowa State takes on Drake next Saturday in the Hy-Vee Classic in Des Moines.
