AMES, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa State University's women's golf team has withdrawn from the East & West Match Play competition in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The decision was made after learning about the death of their former teammate, Celia Barquin Arozamena.

The team won their semifinals match 3-2 against Oregon State yesterday. They were scheduled to play UC Davis today in the finals.

Authorities say Arozamena was assaulted and died as a result of her injuries during a press conference yesterday.
