Quad City Storm hosts ribbon cutting, introduces team to fans

MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) — The Quad City Storm Hockey team held a ribbon cutting and a media day Wednesday at the TaxSlayer Center.

The Ribbon cutting celebrated the new professional hockey team. The Quad City Storm replaces the Mallards, which folded at the end of last season.

Storm co-owner Ryan Mosley says this team is about more than just hockey.

"What we're looking for here is a community-based team that is giving to the community. If the team gives to the community, hopefully, the community will embrace the team and then it's a win-win for both the community, having a hockey team as an amenity and professionally having a hockey team that cares about the community. So that's what I'm looking for."
The media day event, held later in the afternoon, presented an opportunity to hear from Storm Head Coach Dave Pzenyczny and meet the team. Pzenyczny was previously captain of the Peoria Rivermen.
