JOB DESCRIPTION: We are looking for a person dedicated to finding the stories behind the press releases, the official statements, and the regular news of the day. He/she would become the go-to person to dig up background, reviews, supplemental information on important stories of the day while fostering bigger stories aimed at protecting our viewers and their families from crime, fraud, financial waste and problems within our schools. Our new investigative reporter/producer will help us grow our investigative brand even more by exploring ways to show information in a visually-compelling way online and pursuing interviews that show great storytelling ability on TV. Sometimes this producer/reporter will be expected to guide other general assignments reporters through their own projects in digging up information.
QUALIFICATIONS: A college degree in journalism, broadcasting or related field. Experience in navigating through FOIA requests is a must along with background in looking through legal materials. A strong candidate will have experience with data journalism and/or know their way around a courthouse. He/she must know how to operate their own camera and know how to edit. Must have a valid drivers’ license and be insurable.
