QC Counselor was founded in 2011 by psychotherapist Rick Martenson. Rick wanted to establish a practice that felt more like visiting a friend than going to a doctor's office. Our office is designed to help you feel at home, because your comfort is one of our most important considerations. Our therapists all have different philosophies and specialties. Visiting our "Staff" page will help you learn more about them before choosing your therapist. We look forward to cultivating opportunities for your growth with you soon.
Our ever-growing team of therapists offers therapy tailored for couples, families, individuals, children, and more. Come see us for help with depression, anger management, emotional or behavioral issues or any other area of your life you’d like to cultivate for growth.
Commonly Asked Questions
Q: How do I know if I need therapy?

Q: What can a therapist do?
A: A therapist is a trained professional with whom you build a relationship that empowers individuals, families, and groups to accomplish mental health, wellness, education, and career goals.
Q: Do I have to ell my employer if I'm going to counseling?
A: No, you do not have to tell your employer that you are attending therapy. You have a right to confidentiality when you attend therapy.
Q: What should I expect when I come to therapy?
A: Therapy is a partnership between you and your therapist with the purpose of meeting your individual goals. Expect that there will be a great variety among therapists and the approaches that they use—as many as there are personality types. This allows for you to “shop” and find a therapist that you fit with and feel comfortable with. Initially, there will be an information gathering session called an intake and from there sessions set at a frequency determined between you and your therapist with the goal being achievement of goals you’ve established.
