Confusion in Rock Island County courtroom as no-cash bail takes effect

Starting Monday, defendants in Illinois courthouses no longer have to post cash bail. That means that once a person is arrested and processed, they’re freed unless a prosecutor intervenes. On Monday, prosecutors argued to keep dozens of people in jail until their trial. That included defendants accused or murder, major drug crimes, assaults and sex crimes.
