“Thank you so much. I love my city, I love my students and I love my school thank you so much” Rusch said. “I believe in public education. I went to school here, and I want my students to learn everything that they need to learn right? All of my brothers are Veterans but my oldest brother Randy served in Vietnam, he is a Bronze and Purple Heart recipient and when I was probably his age when he came home from the war, I saw him on the stretcher and it was heart breaking, he was injured bad, he was called names, they threw eggs at him, they downed him but I said as that student there that my life was going to be dedicated to Veterans, and I am American Legion Unit 227 East Moline, Illinois I believe in the red, white and blue”.
