Russell Construction champions local spirit with ‘Beat the Elite’ sponsorship

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) -As the community gears up for the 51st annual Bix 7 road race on July 26, one local business is once again stepping up to energize spectators and celebrate community pride.

Russell Construction is proud to sponsor the Russell Beat the Elite challenge—an exciting race-day twist that adds a layer of local competition to one of the region’s most iconic events.

This year’s Beat the Elite runners are Dylan Moeller and Carter Richter, both graduates of Davenport Central High School and standout athletes with deep ties to the Bix and the Quad Cities.

The challenge gives them a head start ahead of the elite field—and if they cross the finish line first, each earns a $2,500 prize.

Russell family tradition

For the Russell family, the Bix 7 is more than a race—it’s a tradition. Longtime supporters Jim and Michelle Russell now share the experience with their grandchildren, and Michelle, a Davenport Central alum herself, is especially thrilled to see two fellow Blue Devils representing the community in such a big way.

Russell encourages everyone to get involved—whether by running, walking, volunteering, or cheering from the sidelines. To get more information about participation at bix7.com/.
