STERLING, Ill. (KWQC) - Three people were displaced after a house fire in Sterling Friday morning.

Smoke and flames were coming from the back of a two-story house when Sterling firefighters got to the 300 block of West 7th Street, according to a media release.

All the people who lived in the home got out before firefighters got there.

The home’s kitchen and most of the first floor were extensively damaged in the fire, officials said. The second floor had moderate smoke damage.

The three displaced residents are being helped by the Red Cross, 1-800 board up and Werner Restorations, officials said.

The fire is under investigation.
