GALENA, Ill. (KWQC) -Galena is ready to dazzle visitors with a lineup of festive events that turn its historic downtown into a real-life holiday movie set.

The charming, historic town invites guests to stroll its twinkling streets, shop small, sip locally roasted coffee, and soak in the spirit of the season.

A Hallmark holiday come to life

Alana Turner, owner of Poopsie’s and Director of the Galena Downtown Business Association, describes Galena as “a holiday Hallmark movie come to life.” With 19th-century architecture, glowing storefronts, and cozy B&Bs, Main Street becomes a walkable winter wonderland.

Signature events include:

• Holiday Fire in the Sky Fireworks - Friday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m.: Watch as the night sky comes alive with beautiful fireworks (rain or shine). The launch location is Grant Park.
• Night of the Luminaria & Living Windows – Friday, Dec. 13: Over 5,000 candlelit luminaries line the streets (beginning at 5 p.m.) while shop windows come alive with holiday-inspired animation from 4–7 p.m.
• Snowflakes & Sweets Stroll – Saturday, Dec. 20, 12–4 p.m.: Guests enjoy 10 sweet treats from local chocolatiers, bakeries, and drink stops, plus a collectible Galena tote bag. Tickets are limited and sell out fast.
