Inmate found unresponsive in Clinton County Jail cell

CLINTON, Iowa (KWQC) - A male inmate was found unresponsive in the Clinton County Jail Sunday, according to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.

A correctional officer was conducting routine cell checks when they found the man unresponsive in a cell, deputies said.

Correctional officers began administering lifesaving measures to the man until the Clinton Fire Department arrived and took over, deputies said.

The man was taken to a local hospital before deputies said he was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals where he currently remains.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations are investigating the incident.
