City of Davenport hosts community Easter Egg Hunt

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Families got in on some early Easter fun this weekend.

Saturday, the City of Davenport held their annual community Easter Egg Hunt at Vander Veer Botanical Park.

Families brought bags or baskets with them to hunt for eggs filled with candy and other goodies. The Easter Bunny was also in attendance.

Organizers said they hope the event teaches kids lessons that go far beyond just the hunt.

“I hope that they realize that it’s not about how many eggs they get, and all of that. That it’s just to have fun and that I think the kids even appreciate even opening the one egg and there being something inside,” said Theresa Hauman, Senior Recreation Manager at Davenport Parks & Recreation Department. “So, and then the older kids, I hope that they really realize that and learn about fairness and trying to build some equity.”
