EAST MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - Students at Hillcrest Elementary School received a visit from a John Deere combine to celebrate a year-long math program goal supported by John Deere volunteers.

Students climbed inside the S-790 combine after collectively logging more than 151,000 minutes of math.

“This is something a lot of kids don’t get to see — a combine up close,” said Chris Lopez, assistant principal at Hillcrest Elementary. “But the whole competition is really about learning and how well they build their math skills for future years.”

This is the second year the elementary school has offered the incentive. This year, students at Hillcrest exceeded their math goal.
