Geifman Group to buy former Quad-City Times building
Parking lot to remain location for Bix 7 post-race celebration under new ownership
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - The Quad-City Times parking lot will remain the home of the Walmart post-race celebration for the Quad-City Times Bix 7 under new ownership.
The sale of the former Quad-City Times building is pending, with the Geifman Group set to take ownership.
“When we heard the news that the building was sold, there was apprehension and that’s normal.” race director Michelle Juehring said. “And like Steve mentioned we too got a lot of phone calls, where’s the post race party gonna be?” Because for most of our 50 some years it has been right here at the parking lot of the Quad City Times and we are very, very excited that we can continue that tradition of this location. It will have a new name but the feeling is gonna be the same.”
The Geifman Group, led by Steve Geifman, has been part of the Quad Cities since 1921 and is known for revitalizing properties while strengthening the community, Bix 7 officials said.
“We’re honored to be part of this Quad Cities tradition,” Geifman said. “The Bix is special to so many, and we’re excited to welcome everyone to the property and be part of race week.”
The Quad-City Times parking lot will host the finishers of the Arconic Jr Bix on July 24, the Prairie Farms Quick Bix and the Quad-City Times Bix 7 on July 25, officials said.
The Quad-City Times will continue as the Bix 7 title sponsor, officials said.
