Alexis Boeh-Petersen named local Star-Spangled Sing-Off winner
Local champion will represent Quad Cities in next round of national anthem competition
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - A winner has been selected in the Star-Spangled Sing-Off contest.
For the past few weeks, the contest has been searching for standout performances of the national anthem in the Quad Cities area.
The votes have been counted, and Alexis Boeh-Petersen is the local champion. She will represent the Quad Cities and move on to the next round of voting.
The overall winner will win a trip to Nashville to record the Star Spangled Banner and have it played on Gray TV stations across the country.
The contest is part of Gray’s “We The People” initiative celebrating America’s 250th birthday ahead of July 4.
“We The People” recognizes local commemorations, celebrations and events tied to the nation’s 250th birthday that showcases hundreds of original stories that connect history to hometown experiences.
Since 2019, KWQC has aired the National Anthem daily, refreshed most recently in 2024.
KWQC and other stations owned by Gray Media will broadcast the winning performance later this year.
