UnityPoint Health – Trinity debuts Quad Cities’ first robotic aquablation system for enlarged prostate treatment
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) -UnityPoint Health – Trinity has introduced the Quad Cities’ first HYDROS Robotic System for Aquablation, offering a new minimally invasive option for men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or an enlarged prostate.
Aquablation therapy uses real‑time imaging and a heat‑free, high‑velocity waterjet to remove excess prostate tissue with precision. The robotic system allows urologists to target only the enlarged areas causing urinary blockage, reducing the risk of complications that can accompany traditional surgery.
A new option for men With BPH
Many men with BPH rely on long‑term medication or avoid surgery due to concerns about sexual or urinary side effects. Aquablation offers an alternative designed to preserve function while improving quality of life.
Ideal candidates include men experiencing urinary frequency, weak stream, nighttime urination, or other symptoms that suggest an enlarged prostate. Trinity urologists encourage patients to discuss symptoms early with their primary care provider.
Expanding robotic care in the Quad Cities
UnityPoint Health – Trinity has been a regional leader in robotic surgery since acquiring its first surgical robot in 2008. Trinity surgeons have performed more than 9,900 robotic‑assisted procedures, and UnityPoint Health completed more than 8,700 robotic cases systemwide in 2025.
The HYDROS system joins Trinity’s existing robotic platforms, including:
- Mako SmartRobotics for partial and total joint replacements
- ION Robotic System for minimally invasive lung biopsies
- da Vinci Xi Surgical System for thoracic, urologic, bariatric, gynecologic and general surgeries
With the addition of Aquablation, Trinity becomes the first provider in the Quad Cities to offer this advanced BPH treatment.
