DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - A group of veterans hit the court for the first time ever as a team, Thursday night, at their first practice. The team calls themselves the Rolling Warriors and they’re a wheelchair basketball team representing the Quad Cities in that sport.

Organizers say they’re combining their adaptive sports with the Veterans Outreach Center.

“We’re very excited to work with the veterans here locally and get them involved with adaptive sports and other sports that we want to also show them, like wheelchair tennis, maybe wheelchair Pickleball, any sport that you can think of in a wheelchair,” said Rolling Warriors member.

The team is organized by Davenport Fireman Bob Juarez, according to Lola VanDeWalle, founder of Quad City Veteran Outreach. Adaptive sports are the newest addition to the Quad City Veterans Outreach Center with the recent move to the Old Buchanan School located at 4515 North Fairmount Street.

The team says they’re looking to add players to their existing team too.
