UnityPoint opening PACE Senior Care in Bettendorf

BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC) - UnityPoint is opening an all-inclusive care site for seniors in the Quad Cities this fall, and it’s only the second site in the state.

UnityPoint’s PACE senior care facility is located at the old Hobby Lobby in Bettendorf and will serve Scott, Muscatine, and Clinton county senior residents.

PACE offers a benefit that combines medical care and long-term care to members of the community that are 55 and older.

Director of Operations for Pace UnityPoint Lori Bahen, explains what this center will provide to participants.

“The services we offer for our participants include transportation to and from our center, as well as other medical appointments,” Bahen said. “We offer a day center that has meals on site. We have our own primary care clinic therapies on site. We offer home and personal care attendants in the home. So really being able to provide all those services that that participant needs to be successful at home. "

Bahen also explains what makes this senior care different from others throughout the QCA.

“One of the unique pieces is that we become the participants payer,” Bahen said. “So we’re able to provide all those necessary things to keep the participant healthy, and independent in their homes that normal insurances, there’s a lot of barriers, a lot of authorizations. We are able to kind of work through that here locally and provide the cares that are needed.”

Bahen says they have plans to open two other centers in Waterloo and Cedar Rapids and they will look for more future development in 2025.

They hope to be able to start enrolling participants at the Bettendorf location on Sept.1.
