Organizers kick off Quad City Times Bix 7 race week

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Thousands of runners and walkers are preparing for the 51st Bix 7 race.

To kick off race week, organizers held a press conference Monday at MLK Park in Davenport.

Officials said race director Michelle Juehring unveiled highlights of this year’s race week.

The Senior Bix is Tuesday night for participants 50 and older. Runners will race on a flat 1 or 2 mile course with views of the Mississippi river from the Isle Casino Hotel in Bettendorf.

The Brady Street Sprints are on Thursday night. Several athletes of all-ages will sprint the quarter-mile climb up Brady Street hill.

Even some of our own KWQC team members will be taking on the challenge against other sponsors.

The John Deere shakeout run will be Friday morning. It’s billed as a good way to get loose for the Saturday race.

The shakeout run is followed by the Junior Bix on Friday evening.

The main event will be Saturday morning, with the 51st running of the 7-mile Bix 7 road race and the 2-mile Quick Bix.

KWQC will have live, exclusive broadcast coverage.
